Honolulu Jazz Quartet    (205 votes)
Since emerging on the scene in 2001, the Honolulu Jazz Quartet has quickly established itself as one of the most compelling and exciting ensembles on Hawaii's jazz scene. Recently, HJQ's founder, John Kolivas, experienced a revelation in his approach, and inspired by music he heard on the mainland, is taking HJQ in "New Directions." The HJQ, with Tim Tsukiyama on saxes, Dan Del Negro on keyboard, John Kolivas on bass and Noel Okimoto on drums, is preparing new jazz arrangements, along with their own compositions.
