The Late Show    (6 votes)
The 3rd installment of the Late Show featuring Santino on vocals is gearing up for another two months of Jazz at The Dragon Upstairs on Fridays.

The Late Show is collaboration. We feature a different Jazz cat every week. The core band consists of:

Santino "Tino" Sgambelluri - vocalist - originally from Guam, Santino was stationed here several years ago. His musical roots have been influenced by the likes of: Kenny Washington, Raul Midon, Jamie Cullum, Sinatra as well as other non-jazz artists. Tino's mix of influences give him a formidable grasp on style and unconventional phrasings. Also, Tino has really taken scatting to a whole new level - there are few vocalists that can scat well.

Stephen "Uncle Steve" Jones - Steve is a local bassist originally from Oahu. He is one of the few people that can wield an upright bass with ease, but he is no stranger to the electric bass. Aside from playing music in Hawaii, Steve is also the bass player from the Grammys. You'll like his style and attitude about this art form, he's one guy you can't miss!

Salvatore "Schmiegel" Di Amore - Sal's another guam native who's equipped with an odd/quirky perception of time that leads the listener into unexplored musical territories.

Ikaika "Ike" Tecson - originally from Kaneohe. Ike is the biggest Aaron Parks, Esbjorn Svensson, Avishai Cohen, Hiromi Uehara and Robert Glasper fan… ever. =)

Aside from the core band, our features for the next two months can be found on http://www.ikejams.com

Event information on HJS is maintained by the artists and promoters themselves. The creator of Honolulu Jazz Scene dot com maintains the platform, but not the listings. All listings on the site are 100% free. If your event isn't here yet, please enter it so that more jazz fans can benefit from your performance.
