Augie Rey

Augie Rey is of Puerto Rican, Cuban, French & Chinese heritage. He was born in New York City, but has spent most of his life in Hawaii. For over 30 years, he has been one of the most popular singer/entertainers on the islands.

His special brand of music is contagious, and a dancer's delight. As an accomplished multi-instrumentalist, Augie Rey plays keyboards, congas & timbales, and brings it all together with a mellow, exciting, and vibrant voice that appeals to all types of crowds.

"The music isn't just for me - it's for the people."

When he first came to Hawaii in 1970, he formed one of the first salsa bands in Waikiki. However, he found it hard to find enough work and changed his repertoire to include a variety of music, but he never lost sight of his Hispanic heritage. To this day he continues to support any endeavor to unite the Hispanics of Hawaii. He is a member of HACER & the Puerto Rican Heritage Society, and a staunch supporter of the "Que Pasa Hawaii" television show.

Augie Rey has had numerous concert appearances throughout the Western U.S. with as the lead singer of the famous 17 piece Latin American band lead by Rene Touzet. The composer/pianist is world famous in the Latino World, recording over 35 albums.
