DUKE ELLINGTON'S NUTCRACKER SUITE PERFORMED BY MIKE LEWIS' BIG BAND

Native New-Yorker and trumpeter Mike Lewis presents Duke Ellington’s Nutcracker Suite, featuring the Mike Lewis Big Band and pianist Tommy James. The show will highlight the jazz interpretations of Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker” as arranged by Duke Ellington, as well as many other Ellington hits.
Mike Lewis has spent substantial time performing in Polynesia and the tri-state New York area, Mike Lewis has recently moved back to Hawaii after touring and recording with Buddy Rich, Sarah Vaughn, Sammy Davis, Wynton Marsalis, Sonny and Cher, Billy Joel, Natalie Cole, Rosemary Clooney, The Temptations, Tony Bennett, Gladys Knight, and Bruno Mars.
Tommy James was born in Mt. Pleasant, New York. He studied music composition at The Manhattan School of Music. Tommy joined The Duke Ellington Orchestra in 1987 after being personally invited by Mercer Ellington (the son of Duke) and has been conductor of the band for past 10 years.
