Blue Note Hawaii    (13 votes)
Senri's connects the distinct eras in his career as a former Japanese superstar artist in the J-Pop arena, and his current career as a jazz artist. With "Boys & Girls" release, Senri brings fresh jazz energy by re-imagining some of his classic pop hits from the 80's and 90's, reflect a limitless creative future in the genre he has embraced since he shifted gears and moved to New York to study jazz in 2008.

Now a native New Yorker, Senri often performs at jazz venues all over U.S. such as Tomi Jazz, Zinc Bar, Jazz Gallery, Soho House, Smalls, Blue Note New York, City Winery, Jazz at Kitano (NYC), PianoForte (Chicago), Regatta Bar (Boston), Vitello's (LA), Kennedy Center millennium Stage, Blues Alley (DC), Atlanta Jazz Festival 2017, Detroit Jazz Festival 2018 and lots more with his dynamic jazz style. A multi-faceted singer, songwriter, actor and radio & TV host in Japan, Senri is the recipient of Japanese Grammy, topped the Billboard charts, headlined stadium, performed on TV soap operas and had his hits used for major Japanese TV commercials. The moment that sparked Senri's concept of presenting his pop hits as solo piano works came when he performed the ballad "Rain" at a jazz bar in the Silicon Valley. When finished, an American person, unaware that the song had been a Japanese pop hit, told the pianist he should put lyrics to it and sing it. "At the moment", Senri says, "I realized I can do jazz arrangements of my pop tunes, and people would enjoy them."

Senri picked up as his performance at Blue Note Hawaii, the GRAMMY Award Winner, Puerto Rican drummer, Henry Cole, who is versatile, cross-cultural in 21st century rhythms and acclaimed Australian bassist, jazz cat, Matt Clohesy has been called upon to tour and/or record with Maria Schneider, Eric Reed, Tom Scott etc.
